Upcoming Activities - Winona HOG Chapter #8219
WEEKEND RIDE
June 26th a few of us are planning a ride down to Anamosa, IA for the JP Cycles Open House.
We plan on leaving from Winona, probably the Kwik Trip on Hwy 61/43, around 530am (kickstands up no later than 6am). On the ride down we plan to stop at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, IA. Saturday night we'll be staying at the Super 8 in Maquoketa, IA (thanks Jerry O.!). I've got 10 rooms blocked off right now (2 queen beds-$74.60) under my name (Doug Stokes). If interested in making a reservation, please call 563-652-6888. 1st come 1st serve on the rooms. They said they only had 10 2 Queen bed rooms left, so if those fill they'll go to whatever is left, 2 full size bed rooms for $69.56/night (both prices already include tax).
On Sunday then, if some choose to stay in IA they can, for those that are adventurous, I will be leading a ride probably leaving sometime early AM over to Rockton, IL. Tentatively the trip to Northern IL will have us stopping at the Galena Harley Shop and Kegel Harley (oldest Harley dealership) in Rockford, IL.
My mother's side is having a family reunion on that Sunday (June 27th).
They are having a hog/chicken roast and have invited all that venture over with me (don't worry about awkwardness because I do not know most of the people that will be there!). My plan is roughly that we'll hit Rockton, IL around 1230/1pm. After eating, if there are those that want to head back to the Winona area, you'd be on your own to get back. Rockton is right on I-90, and
would probably take about 4-5hrs to get back (with stops). For those that stay, we could venture off on some of the country roads for a ride. For those that would stay, I'm looking at getting some hotel rooms in the area for Sunday night and then heading back to Winona area Monday morning. I'm checking at a couple places and finding rooms anywhere from $60-$90. Obviously
I'm trying to find the cheapest/nicest place. If you want to stay Sunday, please contact me (dougie0117@hotmail.com) directly so I can try and get a count which will help with the selection. I for sure will be making reservations for the Sunday night stay by Friday June 18th. Look forward to sharing a lane. Should be a good time!

June 27th
Our Chapter picnic will be held at the Town of Buffalo Park (shelter), located about 2 miles from the SPUR station, going toward Centerville. Weather permitting, Bob will lead a pre-picnic ride. Meet at the SPUR Station at 10:45 a.m., ready to leave at 11:00 a.m.
Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. You're welcome to come any time after 11:30 a.m. There's no charge for the picnic, and your kids and grandkids are welcome to join in the fun.
I'll need a head count by June 19th, so please let me know whether or not you plan to attend.
